3 Lead Generation Ideas

What is Lead Generation?

Dictionary.com defines it as the action or process of identifying and cultivating potential customers for a business’s products or services.

A lead is simply someone you can talk with. Without people to talk with, you’re out of business.

You MUST have people to talk with about their problems and how you can help them.

Every business needs leads to survive. Wouldn’t you agree?

Where do those people come from?

You can go to networking or industry events locally to talk with people who might be interested in what you do.

You can ask friends and family members who they know might be interested in your business.

Depending on the kind of business you have, you can go door to door to speak with people. This could work in both residential and business-to-business relations.

You could run an ad in the local paper or on Craig’s List or Facebook marketplace.

You can even ask past clients who they know might benefit from working with you.

What are Some Online Methods of Finding Leads?

Here are 3 online lead-generation ideas you can implement today.

  1. Create value with a compelling content offer.

Think about your ideal customer. What is one problem you can solve for them before they become they pay you anything?

For example,

Regardless of your offer, this is something you lead with on your website, in your emails, and in your networking commercials.

  1. Be a guest on someone’s podcast and share the content offer.

Utilize the compelling offer you created in step 1 above. Then get your message in front of more people by being a guest on someone else’s platform. This could be a podcast or Live stream on any platform.

The goal here is to offer the other person a valuable piece of content their audience would like and offer to give it away for free during an interview.

Those in that person’s audience that are interested will opt-in to receive your content offer. Now, they will be on your email list to connect with them further.

  1. Add a popup to your website that encourages people to get the content offer.

Again using the content offer created in #1 above, you simply add it to your website. You can set this up in a few different ways.

First, you could add a mention to the content offer with a button that takes you to an opt-in page.

Second, you could add a popup box that appears after a specified time on the website.  This popup would provide the mechanism for your website visitors to opt-in for the content offer. This helps them know you want to help them right away.

In all three ideas mentioned above, it’s about giving away your best stuff for free in exchange for their email address.

Now you know three ways to generate leads for your business.
